Last week I sent an email to an artist I like. They sent back a real, thought-out response. It felt nice.
A lot of people seem to hate email. It makes sense. Opening your inbox to see three automated newsletters and a calendar invite is annoying.
But lately I've really started appreciating the magic of being able to contact anyone on the planet. Doesn't matter if it's the author of a niche blog or the founder of a giant company. If you write a well-crafted email, there's a surprisingly high chance these supposedly unreachable people will just write back.
People seem to think that famous people have some assistant filtering their inbox. I've found that everyone whose opinion I actually care about reads their own.
Don't waste that.
